BEHIND THE LENS

​Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website and find out a little bit more about me!  I am happily married to my husband, Jim, where we live in Crystal Lake with our three little boys and our dog, Riley!   I attended the University of Iowa where I met my husband and received my degree in elementary education.  I was lucky enough to find an awesome job at Woods Creek School here in Crystal Lake where I taught 3rd and 4th grade for 8 years and received my Masters Degree during that time.  For my 9th and 10th years, I decided to go part-time and teach kindergarten fine arts in order to have more time home with my boys and start up my dream job! After becoming pregnant with my third, I decided to stay home to be with my boys and just be "mom" and to welcome my newest son into the world in January 2018!   I have always had a passion for photography and dreamed of starting a business one day.  Then, in the summer of 2016, with the support and encouragement from my family and friends, Kimberly Nelson Photography came to be...and I could not be any more excited!  I can't wait to hopefully capture your next memory!
